Summary:
The role of the Business Development Manager is to be an entrepreneur responsible for growth and success in market development, project opportunities, and driving Burkert specifications at A&E Firms, Target OEMs and Corporate Level End Users for the Food & Beverage Industry.
- Responsible for sales growth and achievement of annual sales and profit goals within Selected Strategic accounts in the Food & Beverage Industry as well as jointly developed KPIs.
- Drive the specifications of Burkert Solutions at: OEMs, A&E firms, Integrators, Contractors and End Users
- Uncover potential Large Project Opportunities and coordinate relevant selling activities with Area Sales Managers and customers involved. Pulling in Project Managers, Technical Sales, Operations, and Management as needed
- Be a “Brand Ambassador” for Burkert Solutions within the Food and Beverage Industry by coordinating marketing efforts with the Marketing Team and Core Industry Managers including new product launches, trade shows, web tools, trade associations, and other sales and marketing activities.
- Participate in Joint Sales Calls with local Area Sales Managers to help advance project business as well as making local connections to high value customers in the ASM's local territory.
- Prepare presentations and proposals of the Burkert portfolio of products to be used for on-site presentations and sales calls at specification-influencing firms
- Complete and implement Account plans and provide accurate and timely forecasting information
- Effectively communicate with sales team and cross-functional colleagues to achieve a desired business purpose
- Input sales activities and data into CRM (Microsoft Dynamics), and achieve defined CRM KPIs regarding opportunity pipeline and visit reports
- Adhere to published expense policy and expense budgets
- Communicate effectively and directly with Team Manager, Core Industry Manager and Corporate Key Account Managers (when applicable)

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent certified completed technical training courses
- 5+ years of sales and technical experience in the specific market required
- Strong customer focus and attention to detail
- Day-to-day work activities are prioritized appropriately within work routines
- Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
- Able to work closely within a team as well as contribute individually
- Ability and motivation to self-train for continued growth
