Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer ensures manufacturing processes and products meet quality, safety, and customer requirements at Huntingdon Fiberglass Manufacturing. This role works closely with Operations, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and EHS to resolve production issues, support new product introductions, and drive continuous improvement in fiberglass and composite manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve quality, consistency, and cost.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards, work instructions, and inspection procedures.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor quality performance through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Support production teams with technical expertise and troubleshooting.
- Conduct process capability studies and establish quality controls.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering to reduce defects
- Work with Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce quality-related downtime.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional project teams.
- Prepare technical reports, quality documentation, and project updates.
- Partner with Chemists and Production teams to support new formulations, material trials, and product development initiatives.
- Participate in capital improvement projects, equipment installations, and process validation activities.
- Develop and maintain quality documentation, control plans, and inspection specifications for composite manufacturing processes.
- Assist with troubleshooting customer quality concerns and implementing corrective actions related to manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3-7 years of manufacturing or quality engineering experience preferred.
- Experience in a continuous manufacturing, composites, fiberglass, polymers, chemicals, or related industrial environment preferred.
- Experience supporting production operations and quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience with process validation, root cause analysis, and statistical problem-solving techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret production and quality data.
- Familiarity with process capability analysis, SPC, and quality improvement tools.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of fiberglass, composite materials, resin systems, and manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
