JOB DESCRIPTION

Pacific Rim Architects is seeking an experienced Construction Administrator to support educational, public-sector, civic, multifamily, and institutional projects throughout California.

This position will take a lead role during the construction phase, working directly with clients, contractors, inspectors, consultants, and public agencies to administer construction contracts and maintain effective communication between the design and construction teams.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of construction documents and building construction, is comfortable working independently in the field and office, and has experience administering multiple projects through construction and closeout. Experience with DSA projects, community colleges, K-12 schools, or other California public-sector construction is particularly desirable.

The position is based in our Huntington Beach office and will include regular travel to project sites throughout Southern California. Additional LIHTC projects exist in Florida that may require office-based support from Huntington Beach.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead day-to-day construction administration for multiple architectural projects
  • Review and coordinate RFIs, submittals, substitution requests, and contractor correspondence
  • Attend OAC and construction meetings and prepare or review meeting documentation - Perform site observations and prepare field reports
  • Review contractor applications for payment, change proposals, and change orders
  • Coordinate construction-phase responses among architectural and engineering consultants
  • Work directly with contractors, owners, inspectors, and testing laboratories to resolve field conditions
  • Track RFIs, submittals, changes, punch-list items, and other construction-phase documentation
  • Coordinate DSA construction documentation, field changes, testing and inspection requirements, and project closeout
  • Participate in punch walks, substantial completion, corrective work, and final closeout
  • Assist Project Managers and Principals in maintaining project schedules, budgets, and client communication during construction
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5–10+ years of relevant architectural, construction administration, construction management, or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, building systems, and construction practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, field observations, and project closeout.
  • Experience with DSA projects and California educational/public-sector construction strongly preferred.
  • Ability to identify field conditions, understand design intent, and coordinate practical solutions with the project team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active construction projects.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and common construction/project-management platforms.
  • Architectural license not required but always preferred.
  • Experience working for an architecture/engineering firm, construction manager, general contractor, or public agency will be considered.
SALARY | BENEFITS:
  • Salary $95,000 – $135,000 annually
