Extensive Support Needs Teacher

Ocean View School District is looking to hire an Extensive Support Needs teacher for a middle school Special Day Class - Extensive Support Needs class. This vacancy is a temporary contracted position for the 2026/2027 school year as it is a direct backfill for a teacher on a yearlong leave of absence. The district also provides an annual $700 Special Education stipend, 3 release days and 10.0 hours of task force pay ($50.00/hr) to our Special Education teachers.

Basic Functions:
Under the supervision of the school principal, the SDC Teacher provides direct instruction and support services as specified in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for the special education pupils identified.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education:

• Valid California Credential, authorizing service to Extensive Support Needs (or Moderate/Severe) students is required;
• Possession of valid, current CPR and First Aid certification is required or obtain within two months of employment is required;
• EL authorization or equivalent is required;
• Autism Spectrum Authorization is preferred;
• Multiple or Single Subject credential is preferred;
• Master's Degree in Education or related field is preferred;

Experience:

• Two years working with Extensive Support Needs (Moderate/Severe) students is preferred;
• Recent successful experience working with children with special needs and willingness to work with staff members and management in a collaborative manner.
• Per the Ocean View Teachers Association (OVTA) Collective Bargaining Agreement, the district may only accept 5 years of previous teaching experience for placement on the Teacher's Salary Schedule.
