JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Test Engineer is responsible for leading test laboratory planning and execution, including test schedules, lab setup, and the performance of developmental and certification testing for seating and furniture products. This role oversees a wide range of test activities, including component, static, dynamic, abuse, cycle, and flammability testing, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and product performance requirements.

- Lead testing activities by planning, setting up, conducting, and monitoring dynamic, static, abuse, and cycle testing, including operation of data acquisition systems.
- Oversee test execution by monitoring, documenting, and validating test results to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with test plans.
- Design and develop test fixtures and platforms, including hands‑on fabrication or oversight of fixture builds.
- Manage the internal testing schedule to ensure timely execution of projects and efficient use of lab resources.
- Supervise and direct test technicians and other testing staff, providing technical guidance and leadership across one or more projects.
- Coordinate testing activities with engineers and cross‑functional teams to align test objectives, timelines, and requirements.
- Maintain test equipment and fixtures in operational condition, including calibration, maintenance, spare parts management, and procurement.
- Develop and maintain internal test facility documentation, including manuals, procedures, and work instructions.
- Review and interpret test plans to ensure proper execution and adherence to defined requirements.
- Monitor advancements in industry testing methodologies, standards, and equipment to support continuous improvement.
- Organize and manage day‑to‑day workflow within the testing team to support operational efficiency.
- Maintain a safe, secure and legal work environment, adhering to all policies and procedures.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Maintain and protect the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned or requested.
Education:
- • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.
- Proven experience with test lab operations, including test setup, data acquisition systems, and result documentation.
- Hands‑on experience designing, building, or overseeing the build of test fixtures and platforms.
- Experience managing test schedules, priorities, and multiple concurrent projects.
- Working knowledge of industry testing standards and certification requirements.
- Experience maintaining test equipment, including calibration coordination and preventive maintenance.
- Solid understanding of test plans, procedures, and certification requirements.
- Proven ability to analyze, document, and validate test data and results.
- Ability to coordinate cross‑functionally with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
- Working knowledge of test equipment maintenance, calibration processes, and lab safety practices.
- May be asked to work extended or irregular hours as required.
- Must show proof of ability to work in the United States.
