Boeing Defense & Space is seeking a motivated and talented Materials and Processes Engineer – Chemistry, Contamination Control and Coatings, specializing in analytical chemistry and aerospace finishing systems. We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Chemical Technology team at the Boeing facility in Huntington Beach, California
.
The Huntington Beach team seeks an experienced analytical and experimental test chemist with over 10 years in analytical labs. The role will work on space launch vehicles, satellites, commercial aircraft, and underwater vehicles, requiring broad knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, aerospace materials, chemistry, and physics. The successful candidate will design and construct unique test set‑ups, lead complex projects, develop laboratory test plans factoring safety and available resources, and mentor junior staff.
PositionResponsibilities
- Support Boeing programs through applied analytical knowledge.
- Develop cleaning, metal finishing and contamination control methods.
- Investigate corrosion reports, recommend design changes to reduce corrosion impacts, and address corrosion‑related inquiries concerning materials, processes and equipment.
- Analyze failures, conduct failure analysis, lead process improvements or initiatives for finishing systems, propellant systems and material selections.
- Interface with government, external and internal customers.
- Review and approve documents and drawings for finishing requirements.
- Perform production acceptance and/or qualification of materials.
- Assist or lead in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application.
- Mentor junior staff members.
- 10+ years of hands‑on lab experience.
- Experience following lab safety practices.
- Experience teaching early‑career staff.
- Experience with aerospace materials & processes.
- Experience developing and constructing unique test set‑ups.
- Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering, chemistry, or material sciences.
Location:
Huntington Beach, California. 100% onsite. 1st shift. U.S. Person required for export control compliance.
