Position: MSP Systems Asministrator - On-Site in Huntington Beach

CAL IT Group is a growing full-service Managed Services Provider (MSP) currently seeking a Systems Administrator.

In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain the server and network infrastructure for our diverse client base. If you're technically sharp, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy owning complex systems from end to end, we'd like to meet you. To succeed, you should have a strong problem‑solving mindset, deep technical expertise across server and network environments, and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical peers and non-technical clients.

Ultimately, you will ensure the stability, security, and performance of client infrastructure while delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services across multiple client environments
  • Deploy, configure, and manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V) and cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365)
  • Design and implement network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems
  • Manage and monitor client backup and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring RTO/RPO targets are met
  • Lead server provisioning, migrations, upgrades, and decommissions
  • Perform proactive monitoring and maintenance of client systems using RMM tools; identify and resolve issues before they impact the client
  • Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation and processes
  • Provide escalation support for Level I/II technicians and assist with mentoring on complex infrastructure issues
  • Audit client environments for security vulnerabilities and compliance gaps; implement remediation plans
  • Participate in after‑hours on‑call rotation and respond to critical infrastructure incidents
  • Collaborate with vCIO and project teams to scope, plan, and execute infrastructure projects
  • Establish and implement policies to ensure quality, timely and efficient design of customer‑oriented services
  • Handle escalated issues from customers
  • Analyze existing operations and schedule training sessions and meetings to discuss improvements
  • Motivate staff and create a space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns
Requirements
  • 4–6 years of experience in a systems administration or infrastructure role, preferably in an MSP environment
  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in a relevant field preferred
  • Microsoft certifications (MCSA, AZ‑104, MS‑102) or equivalent experience required
  • Hands‑on experience with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: switching, routing, firewalls, VLANs, VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, QoS, and VoIP
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi, Hyper‑V) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
  • Familiarity with backup technologies (Datto, Veeam, Acronis) and disaster recovery planning
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple client environments simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for occasional on‑site client visits
  • Ability to participate in after‑hours on‑call rotation
Compensation/Benefits
  • Ten paid holidays per year
  • Paid time off
  • Paid sick time
  • 401(k) with matching
