Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Jet Engine

Huntington Beach, California, United States

About Mach Industries

Founded in 2023, Mach Industries is a rapidly growing defense technology company focused on developing next-generation autonomous defense platforms. At the core of our mission is the commitment to delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems that enhance the strategic capabilities of the United States and its allies. With a workforce of approximately 350 employees, we operate with startup agility and ambition.

Our vision is to redefine the future of warfare through cutting-edge manufacturing, innovation at speed, and unwavering focus on national security. We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security.

The Role

Mach Industries is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Jet Engine to lead the development and industrialization of jet engine assembly and test systems.

You will own manufacturing line design and develop the assembly, balancing, inspection, and end-of-line test processes required to build engines safely, repeatedly, and at production rate.

This is a hands‑on engineering role. You will work directly with engine hardware to develop manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, inspection methods, balancing processes, and test systems, then translate those processes into scalable production equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead manufacturing line design for jet engine subassembly, final assembly, inspection, balancing, and end‑of‑line testing.
  • Translate product requirements and production targets into process flows, assembly sequences, equipment requirements, cycle times, line layouts, and capacity models.
  • Develop robust assembly processes for turbo machinery and precision mechanical assemblies, including controlled fastening, joining, bearing installation, fits, clearances, alignment, concentricity, runout, and tolerance stack‑up.
  • Develop tooling, fixtures, gauges, error‑proofing, and process controls to reduce assembly variation and operator dependency.
  • Develop static and dynamic balancing processes for rotating components and engine subassemblies.
  • Develop incoming, in‑process, subassembly, and final inspection strategies based on critical‑to‑quality characteristics and engineering requirements.
  • Develop dimensional, leak, pressure, flow, torque, vibration, and functional verification processes.
  • Establish manufacturing traceability for critical components, assembly operations, inspection results, balance results, and engine test data.
  • Lead development of end‑of‑line engine testing, including test sequences, instrumentation, data acquisition, and acceptance criteria for parameters such as speed, temperature, pressure, vibration, fuel flow, and thrust.
  • Troubleshoot engine test failures and drive root‑cause corrective actions into upstream component, assembly, balancing, or inspection processes.
  • Drive DFMA improvements with Design Engineering to improve manufacturability, quality, and production rate.
  • Develop technical specifications and acceptance criteria for assembly, balancing, inspection, and test equipment.
  • Work with Automation Engineering, equipment OEMs, and systems integrators to develop and deploy production equipment.
  • Lead FAT, SAT, commissioning, process qualification, and production ramp through Run at Rate.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process development, industrialization, or production engineering.
  • Experience developing assembly processes for jet engines, gas turbines, turbo machinery, rotating equipment, propulsion systems, or similarly complex mechanical products.
  • Strong understanding of precision mechanical assembly including GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, fits, clearances, fastening, alignment, concentricity, and runout.
  • Hands‑on experience with static and/or dynamic balancing of rotating components or assemblies.
  • Experience developing inspection methods and manufacturing acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with functional or…
