BASIC FUNCTIONThe Product Metallurgist I and II are responsible for assisting in determining and eliminating the root cause of process and product non‑conformances, determining process route, practice design, and supporting operations, sales, and customers with metallurgical guidance for improvement and resolution.
DIMENSIONSProcess and Product Metallurgy / Quality Assurance
NATURE & SCOPEThis role is accountable for identifying and solving metallurgical problems. The incumbent assists in determining and eliminating the root cause of non‑conformance found at the division and/or with the customer. The role reports to the Finishing Superintendent in Huntington, Indiana. It involves combining the efforts of people, equipment, and material to meet quality goals and standards while controlling costs within established guidelines.
Qualification for this role includes a four‑year college degree, preferably in metallurgical engineering or steelmaking, proven through metallurgical experience and a desire to obtain a technical degree.
The incumbent should have knowledge of grade specifications, customer and industry specifications, basic computer literacy, and must have completed the Product Metallurgist training qualification checklist.
Product Metallurgist Levels- Product Metallurgist I: G‑Future and/or 1‑3 years
- Product Metallurgist II: 5+ years
