Industrial Engineer – Tier I Automotive Manufacturing
Summary:
The Industrial Engineer supports a fast‑paced Tier I automotive facility producing compression‑molded components. The role focuses on time studies, line balancing, plant layout design, and process optimization to improve productivity, reduce cost, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work Standards — Establish and maintain labor and machine cycle time standards.
- Time Studies — Perform detailed studies using Work Factor, MTM, and other predetermined motion/time systems.
- Line Balancing — Analyze labor and equipment utilization to optimize production lines.
- Plant Layouts — Develop and update facility, equipment, and process layouts using AutoCAD.
- Process & Material Flow — Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase throughput.
- Continuous Improvement — Support lean initiatives, cost‑reduction projects, and productivity improvements.
- Work Sampling — Conduct studies for indirect labor efficiency.
- Capacity Analysis — Support short‑ and long‑term planning with capacity and utilization studies.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams to validate improvements and present data‑driven recommendations.
- 1–5+ years in industrial engineering within manufacturing (automotive preferred).
- Strong experience in time studies, line balancing, and capacity analysis.
- Proficiency with Work Factor, MTM, and other predetermined time systems.
- Experience creating plant and process layouts (AutoCAD).
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering preferred).
- Familiarity with Six Sigma concepts.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced production environment.
- Detail‑oriented with strong documentation skills.
The role operates in a high‑volume automotive manufacturing facility.
Job Type & LocationContract to Hire position based out of Huntington, IN.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
