Responsibilities

Standing while driving a forklift to prepare and manage outgoing shipments, including accurately picking, packing, labeling, staging and/or loading products onto delivery trucks. While also ensuring all necessary paperwork and documentation is completed correctly and that shipments are tracked and delivered on time. Will be frequently stepping on and off forklifts during shift. It is a fast‑paced environment with frequent lifting of parts.

Attention to detail is a must. Employees will be required to train on multiple stations with the first day as observational. Other duties as assigned. Located at BDC (Bendix Distribution Center).

Shipping Workstation
  • Bin Picker – Employee uses an RF scanner which details what items need removed from shelving and racks, placed on a cart, and transported to moving conveyors. The moving conveyors deliver the finished goods to the sorter area where another employee sorts the products into the proper shipping locations. Employee uses a cart and may utilize a stepladder to obtain items from higher shelves.

    There are anti‑fatigue mats along the conveyors to support healthy ergonomics. In short, this position picks finished goods all day long without the use of a forklift to support other positions.
  • Stand‑Up Picker – Employee uses the stand‑up picker and RF scanner which details what items need removed from shelving and racks and placed on the picker they are driving. Once the picker shelves are full, the employee transports the finished goods to the moving conveyors. The moving conveyors deliver the finished goods to the sorter area where another employee sorts the products into the proper shipping locations.

    In short, this position picks finished goods all day long utilizing a stand‑up picker.
  • Forklift Picker – Employee will handle larger parts using a stand‑up forklift and an RF scanner which details what items need removed from shelving and racks to transport items on a pallet or pallet box to pack out areas in shipping.
  • Truck Packing – Employee fills pallet or pallet box brought to pack out area in shipping by Forklift Pickers. The pallet or pallet boxes are filled with the finished goods that are picked from the three different picker positions. Once the pallet or pallet box is complete, this position makes sure all paperwork is placed with the order, any labels are printed and applied to the pallet or pallet box.

    Employees carry up to 50–60 boxes per hour. Boxes vary in weight from under 5 lbs. up to 52 lbs. and are carried between 10 feet and 50 feet. Once the shipment is complete, employee cuts pallet boxes to the size of the order in preparation for their shipment.
  • Small Package Packing – Employee packs orders and prepares labels for boxes. Employee utilizes computer to input information regarding items shipped. Boxes are banded for shipping using a banding machine. Employee can handle up to 450–500 boxes per shift that can weigh up to 70+ pounds. Employee lifts boxes from 28‑inch height to pallets on floor lifts. Boxes are generally 8–10 inches in height.

  • Staple gun, utility knives, stand‑up forklifts, cherry picker forklifts, RF scanner computer/software, printers, banding machine, pallet jack, step ladder.
  • Eye protection (UPS areas), steel‑toe boots, anti‑fatigue mats, and anti‑cut gloves.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must be able to maintain good attendance including working overtime as required.
  • Must be able to safely and effectively operate in an industrial environment.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend work instructions, communications, policies, job safety analysis, etc.
