Job Title:
Service Technician – Receiving
General:
This role involves operating both sit-down and stand-up forklifts to support receiving and internal material movement. Responsibilities include unloading incoming shipments from trailers, verifying quantities and product condition, and transporting materials throughout the facility. Sit-down forklifts are primarily used for unloading trailers, while stand-up forklifts are used for internal material handling.
Additional duties include assisting with inventory management by maintaining accurate records and ensuring proper storage of all received items. Workers are expected to adhere to all plant safety policies and forklift operating procedures. This position requires frequent mounting and dismounting of forklifts, working in a fast-paced environment, and regular lifting of materials. Strong attention to detail is essential.
Workers are expected to cross-train across multiple functions, beginning with an initial observation period. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support operational objectives.
Receiving Workstation:
- Bin Locating
- The worker will utilize an RF scanner to identify items requiring placement into designated shelving or bin locations after receipt. Materials are transported via carts to the appropriate storage locations. This role may require the use of a stepladder to access higher shelving. Responsibilities primarily involve accurately locating and storing finished goods throughout the shift. - Forklift Locating
- The worker will use a stand-up forklift and RF scanner to transport and store larger materials from receiving or production areas into designated rack locations. Materials are typically stored on pallets or pallet boxes and must be accurately placed according to system direction. - Trailer Unloading – The worker will operate a sit-down forklift to unload incoming trailers and stage materials in designated lanes on the receiving dock. Once staged, materials will be moved to final storage locations by Bin Locating or Forklift Locating personnel.
Tools:
Staple guns, utility knives, stand-up forklifts, sit-down forklifts, RF scanner computer/software, printers, pallet jack, step ladder.
Protective Personal Equipment:
Steel toe boots, anti-fatigue mats, and anti-cut gloves.
Work is conducted in a climate-controlled environment that may be noisy and includes frequent forklift traffic. Workers are expected to work collaboratively with team members to maintain consistent production flow and ensure output meets established pace requirements throughout the shift.
