Job Description:

The West Virginia-IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (WV-INBRE) invites applications for a Grants Administrator. Salary will be commensurate with relevant skills and experience and funded through a grant from National Institutes of Health. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Management of the WV-INBRE grant budget
  • Working with the leadership team to support WV-INBRE's statewide, multi-institutional research program
  • Provision of daily support, guidance, and assistance to faculty and students involved in WV-INBRE activities in the summer research programs
  • Serving as a WV-INBRE network administrator which involves regular contact with faculty and staff at universities and colleges throughout the state
  • Participating in periodic employee training provided through Marshall University and the Marshall University Research Corporation (this includes IT skills, financial processes, grant administration and research administration practices)
  • Applying knowledge of state and federal regulations, agency policy and other requirements that affect grant program administration
  • Analyzing and evaluating methods to identify and resolve grant administration and compliance issues
  • Performing other grant related responsibilities which include, but are not limited to purchasing, processing travel requests, invoicing, assisting with organization of committee meetings and coordinating with the Summer Research Director on the implementation of our summer research program and symposium

Required Qualifications

Education:

The minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree preferably in Business, Biological Sciences or Biomedical Sciences.

Experience:

Experience working with MS Excel is required. Candidates must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills, have demonstrated good time management and adept at handling multiple grant-related tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

Experience:

We will prefer applicants with prior experience in grants management, using Microsoft Office, Zoom, One Drive and similar systems, and familiarity with Banner or similar financial reporting systems. Experience with federal grant applications highly desirable.
