Computer Operator 1 – Kanawha County – Onsite Position Only Exempt Position

At Work Force, WV (WFWV), this position is in the Management Information System section. This position is an overnight Computer Operator responsible for monitoring after-hours (overnight) computing and printing operations. Monitors job progress on computer console and checks for system and equipment errors. Takes corrective action in response to minor error messages. Reviews completed jobs to ensure compliance with user agency or vendor representative of program or equipment problems.

Reviews completed jobs to ensure compliance with user agency specifications. Maintains job status logs. Performs routine maintenance and cleaning duties such as replacing ribbons and changing ribbon trains. Maintains stocks of paper and other supplies within the work area. Assists in controlling inventory supplies. Performs other related duties as assigned. Please note, this is an exempt position and is not covered under the merit system administered by the West Virginia Division of Personnel.

This is an onsite only position.

Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent.

Six months of experience in the operation of a variety of standard computer equipment including computer consoles, tape drives and printers.

(1) Six hours of college/university credit in computer science courses or, (2) two courses in data processing from an accredited business or vocational school may be substituted for the required experience.
