Telecom Lead Field Construction Representative
We are looking for a highly skilled and knowledgeable Telecom Lead Field Construction Representative with advanced experience in aerial and buried fiber installation.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, making them an invaluable asset to our team and ensuring the smooth, compliant execution of key construction projects.
This role requires a strong understanding of telecom construction standards and safety protocols, along with the ability to inspect, enforce compliance, and mentor team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and executing advanced aerial and buried fiber construction projects.
- Enforcing safety and quality control measures, ensuring all work adheres to engineering design drawings and applicable specifications and standards.
- Upholding a strong construction safety culture and facilitating the execution of the client's safety standards and practices.
- Conducting professional inspections and maintaining high standards of conduct in the field.
- Conducting project oversight by attending on-site construction kick-off meetings to ensure proper coordination of project resources throughout all phases of project construction.
- Supporting FCRs with any questions or assistance they need in the field and resolving construction-related issues during the project.
- Providing project quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) oversight to ensure adherence to engineering and construction standards, specifications, and safety terms.
- Building and fostering strong relationships and partnerships between the client and our contractors.
- Upon request, may review and provide feedback to the client for project-related feasibility and constructability during scoping. May also participate in site visits for physical/engineering design and bid review and provide the client with contractor and vendor information related to project bids.
- Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with engineers, consultants, subcontractors, stakeholders, and the public.
- Providing training, guidance, and mentorship to junior team members on best practices and efficient work methods.
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
- Communicating effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
- Utilizing computer systems proficiently for documentation, reporting, and project tracking.
- Operating independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating accountability and strong decision-making skills.
Physical demands and work environment:
- The employee may be required to stand; reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel.
- The employee may be subject to rough terrain and inclement weather.
- The employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- The employee may be required to lift, carry, push, pull or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee may be required to travel.
- The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions including wet and/or humid conditions.
- This position may require working more than 40 hours per week.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Expert level understanding and experience in one or more of the following:
- Telecommunication civil construction
- Telecommunications aerial fiber and buried fiber.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering documents for constructability.
- Expert level understanding of Owner engineering and construction standards, specifications, and safety terms.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering design and specifications of design packages.
- Familiarity with OSHA Standard 1926, including Subpart V – Power Transmission and Distribution.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction and design documents.
- Capable of training and mentoring others in correct methods and processes.
- Able to perform responsibilities without supervision and may provide supervision to lower FCR levels.
- Demonstrated ability to enforce safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work well independently while maintaining effective professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Hands-on experience with aerial fiber, underground fiber, boring, trenching, and plowing.
- Leadership or compliance management experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proven experience in conducting field inspections with professionalism and high standards of conduct.
- Prior splicing experience required.
- Prior Rural Broadband (RBB) experience required.
