Job Description
The School of Music at Marshall University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2024.
Responsibilities- Teach applied violin and viola students
- Recruit for the strings area
- Coach string chamber ensembles
- Maintain an active professional performance profile
Secondary areas of specialization may include teaching music theory and aural skills courses, teaching courses in music education, and/or conducting the orchestra, depending on the strengths of the candidate and school needs.
Additional ContributionsThe School of Music also seeks candidates who will contribute to the University’s general education curriculum and emphasize high-impact teaching practices, particularly those affiliated with pedagogical initiatives such as Community-based Learning, Critical Thinking, First Year Seminar, and Writing Across Curriculum. The ideal candidate will also support interdisciplinary programs of study within the College.
QualificationsDoctoral degree in Music (ABD considered) with professional performance experience and evidence of successful recruitment and teaching.
