J.H. Fletcher & Co., a worldwide leader in the manufacture of heavy mobile machinery, has a job opening for a Mechanical Engineer at our Huntington, WV facility. This position plays a critical role in designing and developing mining machinery and related equipment, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, proficiency in CAD software, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Proficiency in Solid Edge CAD software

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

• Strong mathematical, calculation, and engineering skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams

Preferred:

• Work experience in design engineering (preferred but not required)

• Previous experience in the design of mining equipment

• Professional Engineering (PE) certification

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop sales drawings based on specific customer requirements for mining machinery

• Provide technical support to sales and service teams before and after a sale

• Visit mines as necessary for pre- and post-sale evaluations

• Ensure compliance with state and federal government regulations

• Create detailed fabrication, machining, casting, and assembly drawings using CAD software

• Perform engineering calculations to ensure structural integrity and operational efficiency

• Oversee and review design work performed by draftsmen and engineers

• Collaborate with internal and external shops for welding, machining, and assembly processes

• Maintain and revise Bill of Materials and ensure alignment with drawing specifications

• Support customers with technical questions regarding current and past machines

• Assist in the development of parts books and service documentation

• Attend customer visits, including after-hours meetings when necessary

• If a registered Professional Engineer, approve design components in accordance with regulatory requirements
