Water Pipeline Estimator

CJ Hughes Construction Company Inc. that has been in business for over 80 years is searching for a highly qualified individual to perform estimating services. The daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to physically reviewing of each project, perform material take-offs, develop schedules, prepare man‑hour loading summaries, develop crew sizes, determine overall project durations, determine man‑hours, determine equipment requirements, obtain material pricing and create any other informational requirements requested by our customers.

A thorough understanding of the water business, including distribution and transmission, is paramount. Also, a thorough understanding of the sewer and petroleum is beneficial in this position.

• Possess and maintain an insatiable appetite for details.
• Thoroughly review all job specifications, standards and drawings required to have a comprehensive understanding of the scope for each project.
• Perform complete material take-offs for all materials required for the project.
• Obtain competitive material and subcontractor pricing for the project.
• Attend pre‑bid meetings and perform detailed project site reviews to thoroughly understand the magnitude of the scope for the project.
• Perform thorough material take-offs and seek material supplied pricing for all items.
• Perform thorough labor and equipment resource requirements for each project.
• Prepare detailed resource loading charts.
• Perform detailed schedules utilizing Microsoft Project.
• Prepare detailed project scopes for potential sub‑contractors and negotiated pricing.
• Prepare presentations for Bid Review Committees.
• Be prepared to work at a high pace and keep multiple projects progressing at the same time.
• Be prepared to ensure high‑stress environments of meeting customer‑driven deadlines.
• Be capable of creating project qualifiers and stipulations to clearly express your bid intentions.
• Be capable of creating project qualifiers and stipulations to clearly express without compromise.
• Be prepared to create very well‑written bid proposals including an extraordinaire amount of details.
• Again, possess and maintain an insatiable appetite for details.
• Be prepared to assist in any other duties that are deemed necessary by management to preform.

• Preferred 10+ years of experience in estimating projects identified within various industries.
• Thorough practical experience in the actual construction of pipelines.
• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Project Management and/or other related field.
