Technical Analyst Senior

Under general direction of the Engineer Chief, the successful candidate will perform technical and engineering‑related work at the administrative/management level in charge of a section of engineering and technical professionals involved in regulating public electric and natural gas utilities.

• Assign formal and informal work to staff members.
• Monitor staff progress on assignments.
• Approve final staff work products.
• Conduct performance reviews in accordance with state policies.
• Monitor staff use of time.
• Address other personnel and staff matters as required.
• Possibly responsible for own case load, including high profile cases, in addition to administrative and supervisory tasks.
• Prepare written testimony and testify in cases.
• Confer with members of other state and federal agencies.
• Provide policy recommendations to the Commission.
• Perform other duties as may be required.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Engineering, or Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college or university with a major in Civil, Electrical, Electrical Design, Mechanical, Chemical, or Mining Engineering Technology.
• Experience:
  
  Seven (7) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid employment in engineering, or Master’s degree in engineering may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
• Special requirement: A valid driver’s license is required.
• Preference may be given to applicants with previous experience with electric or natural gas utilities and previous experience in management or supervisory positions.

Special salary range for the Public Service Commission: $85,849 to $131,078 for this classification.
