Mechanical Engineering Technician

Shift: Full time, 6AM to 2:30PM

Supervisory Responsibility:
This role does not include any supervisory responsibilities, but may involve mentoring new employees during the learning process.

Job Summary:

MET's are responsible for machine layouts in 3D CAD, light design of mechanical assemblies/systems, wiring harness routing, and/or hydraulic hose routing related to heavy equipment design. This position reports directly to Product Managers or the Director of Engineering.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Non-structural mechanical design
  • Machine component/sub-system layouts
  • Detailing of component specifications
  • Support of production assembly documentation
  • Hydraulic hose/wire routing
  • Hydraulic/electrical schematic CAD
  • Solid Modeling (Solid Edge CAD software)
  • Schematic CAD (Automation Studio/Zuken/Solid edge 2D)
  • 90% of time will be spent in various CAD software packages. 3D/2D CAD.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Complete additional training as assigned by Supervisor or Risk Management.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Understanding of CAD software, such as AutoCAD or Solid Works.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications and

Experience:

  • Relevant experience via education requirement
  • Project management skills preferred
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and codes relevant to mechanical engineering.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based, with extensive periods spent at a computer workstation.
  • May require occasional visits to manufacturing facilities or project sites for field measurements and observations.
  • Requires the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Mental Requirements:

  • High level of concentration and focus to ensure accuracy and precision in work.
  • Creative thinking to translate engineering ideas into detailed plans.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing project files and documentation.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and software.
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods.
  • Problem-solving skills and decision-making ability.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of maintaining stationary positions and using a computer.
  • May occasionally require moving materials up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to perform drafting and operate computer keyboards.

Certifications Needed:

  • No mandatory certifications required

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed to meet production goals.
