Advanced Practice Providers (NP or PA) – CVT Critical Care, Full Time – 7131

Job Description

St. Mary’s Medical Center is seeking a full‑time Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in the CVT‑Critical Care division. The individual will promote excellence in patient care by advancing quality, efficiency, and cost‑effective care.

  • Daily hospital rounds with a physician.
  • Dictates patient admission history and physical.
  • Orders appropriate laboratory tests, x‑rays, and other diagnostic tests as deemed necessary in collaboration with the physician.
  • Prescribes appropriate medications to manage the patient’s diagnosis.
  • Performs minor bedside procedures.
  • Communicates patient status and needs to the attending physician.
  • Initiates evaluation and emergency management for critical situations.
  • Prepares and dictates patient discharge summary and/or transfer of care notes.
Requirements

Education
:
Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Licensure
:
Current licensure in the State of West Virginia;
Board certification as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

Certification
: PANCE/PA‑C; ACLS.

Prescriptive Privileges
:
Comply with West Virginia Code related to attaining and maintaining limited prescriptive privileges.

Experience
:

  • Two (2) years of experience as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (preferred).
  • Two (2) years as a Critical Care RN or Nurse Practitioner preferred.
  • Demonstrated clear, effective communication with clients, staff, and other health care providers.
  • Proficiency in using equipment necessary for a thorough physical examination.
  • Behaviors that reflect understanding, emotional stability, patience, tact and consideration for individual differences.
