Special Education Coordinator

LOCATION OF WORK: Leggee Elementary School

STARTING DATE: 2026 / 2027 School Year

WORK HOURS: 210 Days / 10 Months / Full-Time

RANGE OF PAY: $82,500 - $90,000. Salary commensurate with education and experience

CLASSIFICATION: Administrator (Benefits aligned with other certificated staff members)

As the Special Services Coordinator, you will provide crucial leadership and support to special education staff, including teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers. Provide needed technical assistance to IEP teams throughout the District to maintain compliance with IDEA and LEA. Provide administrative supervision for District programs. Promote additional communication with parents of students with special needs. Communication skills for collaboration with building principals and administrative teams is essential.

• Master's Degree.
• Up to four years of experience working in a special education environment.
• Valid Illinois PEL with administrative endorsement and appropriate LBSI or Type 73 endorsement.
• Proven background in leadership and extensive knowledge of the pre-referral process and the reauthorized Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff, parents, and students.
• Keen awareness of services available to the special needs population outside the school setting.
• LEA experience preferred but not required.
• Prior experience as a Special Education teacher or related service is required, preferred at the elementary level.
