Job Title: Radiologic Technologist – Part Time
Schedule: 8 hours a week
Job Description- The Rad Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
- This position is capable of taking any or all types of radiographs with several different types of equipment. He/she functions as the first line interface with patients/customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.
- Utilize markers consistently.
- Instruct and prepare patients for radiographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations.
- Demonstrate overall knowledge of exams.
- Produce high‑quality films consistently.
- Understand and properly use CR, the PRID, ADC Multiloader, and QS workstation.
- Write complete patient histories for the radiologists.
- Utilize PACS with few errors.
- Demonstrate overall efficiency of work and time; use slow time constructively, e.g., stocking rooms, emptying linen, putting away supplies, helping transport, etc.
- Assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure and make appropriate physician contact for intervention.
- Demonstrate knowledge of how to access Pyxis, what medications are available for what procedures, and understand that the doctor verifies the correct medication upon receipt.
- Practice medical and surgical aseptic procedures (good handwashing).
- Multitask in several areas.
- Acknowledge exams on a timely basis and completely.
- Graduation from an approved school of Radiology Technology, either college affiliated or hospital trained.
- American Registry of Registered Technologist (ARRT) within 3 months of graduation; new graduates need Certificate of Completion from the college.
- Certified by the State of Illinois to practice and administer radiation (IEMA). New graduates required to apply for temporary license which, when received, is valid in the state for two years.
- CPR – Basic Life Support.
- Physical demands: lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds.
- Bachelor of Science degree.
- Previous Rad Tech experience.
Northwestern Medicine conducts a background check that includes criminal history on newly hired team members and, at times, internal transfers.
