Building Custodial & Set-up

Overview

Building Custodial & Set-up role at First Service Residential. Under the direction of the Building Services Supervisor, this position serves as Building Services Associate for the Community Association at Sun City Huntley. Responsibilities include performing custodial and room meeting set-up duties, with first and second shift rotation to include some weekends and holidays to meet the department's goals.

• Set-up and breakdown of daily events for CAM and other sponsored functions, and provide custodial services for the Prairie Lodge Recreation Center, Fountain View Center, Meadow View Lodge and other facilities, including activity rooms, ballroom, lounges, restrooms, pools and other facilities.
• Collaborate with other Building Services Associates to cover cleaning services and area coverage, while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Assist to ensure functions and events have proper coverage; flexible to cover time off as needed.
• Provide communication to the Building Services Supervisor and the Facilities Manager regarding building concerns related to cleaning or scheduled functions.
• Custodial tasks include cleaning floors (vinyl, carpet, wood), windows, lavatories, shower/locker facilities, trash removal, dusting furniture; outdoor tasks include trash receptacles, cleaning water fountains, and outdoor furniture.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks as needed.
• Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
• Set up AV equipment as needed.

• High school graduate or its equivalency preferred
• Basic computer skills required
• Prior janitorial/custodial experience
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a reliable vehicle and be insurable if necessary

• Accountable for the required building service duties including staff and resident safety
• Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, delays and staff re-assignments; stay alert to safety, health, and environmental concerns
• Must be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
• Must be able to interact with all types of individuals from various backgrounds
• Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in potentially stressful environments
• Knowledge of chemicals used for cleaning and operation of cleaning tools and machines
• Capable of working extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Physical ability to remain on feet during shifts and move objects up to 50 lbs
• Position alternates between indoor and outdoor settings with varying climate and lighting
• Ability to communicate verbally and in written English
