Graduate Research Assistantship – PhD Description of Duties
The Noguera Lab at Montana State University is seeking a Ph.D. student to lead research focused on herbicide resistance in Bromus tectorum (cheat grass) in winter cereal production systems.
The student will conduct field, greenhouse, and laboratory research focused on characterizing resistance mechanisms and developing effective management strategies. Responsibilities include design and execution of experiments, data collection and analysis, and presenting results at scientific meetings.
This position offers extensive opportunities for professional development through research, extension, and scientific communication activities.
- M.S. degree in Weed Science, or a closely related field
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to obtain a pesticide applicator license
- Experience with molecular techniques
- Familiarity with data management and analysis software
