Job Summary
This position will be located at our Huntsville Business Office. The Staff Accountant will perform functions such as Accounts Payable and Payroll within the Deltek Costpoint accounting system supporting our Fortis Industries and Fortis Native Group.

Job TitleStaff Accountant
Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for entering approved data in accounting system to process transactions in a timely, comprehensive manner following document procedures and proper internal control practices, across multiple entities.
- Process Accounts Payable, including AP vouchers, credit card statements and employee expense reports, across multiple entities.
- Prepares various reconciliations of accounts and journal entries related to such accounts.
- Assist with processing of Payroll and other supporting functions, across multiple entities.
- Questions/validates data provided, gathers additional information, requests clarification/backup documentation, corrects inaccuracies and/or addresses other needs/issues prior (or subsequent) to the initiation of processing activities, across multiple entities.
- Maintains positive internal customer relationships by providing prompt and appropriate responses to inquiries, issues, and concerns when appropriate.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. Responsible for correspondence with local and state regulatory institutions to resolve general issues, across multiple entities.
- Keeps supervisor informed of non‑routine issues and refers matters outside assigned scope of authority to appropriate individuals.
- Maintain strictest confidentiality of data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform duties across multiple entities.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Accounting, Business, or related field or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting role with a Federal Government Contractor
- A minimum 2 years’ experience using the Deltek Costpoint Accounting System
- Accounts payable experience required.
- Experience with payroll processing (preferred)
- Multi‑company accounting experience (preferred)
- Strong Microsoft Office experience and skills with Excel reporting
- Must be proficient and accurate in operating a 10‑Key calculator and in accurately and efficiently typing on a computer keyboard.
- Must be a self‑starter and have the ability to multi‑task to meet tight deadlines.
- An accounting skill test may be administered and a passing score for the position will be required.
- Must be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time and view information displayed on a computer screen.
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
- Must be able to get along well with all levels of the organization and excel in a team‑oriented environment.
- Willing and able to work odd or irregular hours.
- Demonstrated efficiency in English, spelling, punctuation, and writing skills.
- Ability to comply with all other requirements as specified within the management level CIEDA Personnel Policies and Procedures.
- May be required to undergo a standard background check along with verification of education requirements.

To visit other company sites, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle and fly in an aircraft, both of which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time.
Employees must possess vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas will be required. This position requires an employee to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance; reach, push, and pull drawers and doors open and closed.
