The Administrative Clerk II performs responsible clerical and administrative support work requiring independent judgment and knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. Work includes maintaining records, preparing correspondence, assisting the public, and coordinating office functions. Work is performed under general supervision.

All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.

  • Maintains detailed clerical and financial records.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports on routine and semi-technical subjects.
  • Composes routine communications independently following established guidelines.
  • Assists the public by providing information regarding departmental policies and procedures.
  • Reviews documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Schedules meetings and may take and transcribe meeting minutes.
  • Compiles data and prepares reports involving review and verification of records.
  • Serves as a point of contact for vendors, employees, and the public.
  • May provide guidance to Administrative Clerk I or other support staff.
  • Performs related duties as assigned. work as required.
Education and Experience
  • Graduation from a standard high school or GED equivalent, supplemented by coursework in business practices, typing, or office technology preferred.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical experience, preferably in a governmental or public sector office.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Considerable knowledge of office procedures and modern office equipment.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to maintain complex records and prepare accurate reports.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established policies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
