Position: Buyer I (Temp to hire)

Job Summary

The Buyer I is responsible for procuring goods, materials, and services at favorable terms. This position will research suppliers, evaluate bids, negotiate contracts, and manage purchase orders to ensure a timely delivery while maintaining inventory levels and quality standards.

Temp to hire, Non-Exempt $18-$25/hour

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years experience in purchasing or related fields.
  • Good organizational and work ethics.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Excel.
Responsibilities
  • Prepares and processes purchase orders, Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and Invitations for Bids (IFBs).
  • Identifies, qualifies, and maintains relationships with vendors, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
  • Negotiates prices, contracts, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings.
  • Monitors stock levels to prevent shortages, track shipments, and expedite orders.
  • Performs market research, analyzes purchasing trends, and prepares reports on vendor performance and spending.
  • Acts as a liaison between internal departments (manufacturing, finance) and external suppliers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions

The working conditions will mostly be a well-lit, air-conditioned office environment.

Physical Requirements

This position must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. as well as have the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Physical requirements of the position may also include, but are not limited to, bending, twisting, and lifting.
