The Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority is accepting applications for the position of Project Manager - Structures
. The work involves day-to-day administration of the design and construction of assigned projects and other related project management duties. Reports directly to the Chief Design & Construction Officer (CDCO).
- Assists CDCO in developing and executing the Airport capital improvement plan including, but not limited to, project definition, budgeting, scheduling, and reporting.
- Administers project design including, but not limited to, scope development, consultant solicitation, evaluation, recommendation, contracting, scheduling, and development of bid and construction documents.
- Administers project construction including, but not limited to, bidding, contracting, contractor compliance with construction documents, submittal review, inspections, scheduling, budget monitoring, closeout, and proper file maintenance.
- Prepares and submits monthly construction progress reports.
- Coordinates internal and external construction inspectors on assigned Airport projects.
- Coordinates with GIS staff on all requested mapping needs for the Airport while ensuring accuracy of the data to be presented.
- Provides construction-related technical insight and advice to other Airport departments.
- Assists CDCO in preparing and submitting grant applications for funding assistance and ensure compliance with grant requirements on grant‑funded projects.
- Develops comprehensive bid documents and obtains contractor proposals on projects that don't involve design consultants.
- Communicates and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders including, as necessary, creation of presentations and conducting meetings.
- Assists CDCO in budgeting for the annual operating budget.
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Skill using information technology hardware, software, and applications commonly used in design and construction including, but not limited to, Adobe, Apple, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Google, and Microsoft products
- Knowledge of all aspects of commercial construction and contract administration.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations related to design and construction.
- Knowledge of local, regional, and national suppliers, contractors, engineers, and architects.
- Ability to interact with others honestly and professionally at all times.
- Ability to read, interpret, implement, and provide direction concerning drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
- Ability to effectively manage numerous projects simultaneously with limited supervision.
- Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to effectively and efficiently operate in demanding situations with time and performance requirements.
A Bachelor's Degree in Building Science, Construction Management, or related field required and three years' experience in building construction project management and associated inspection work. Work on airport projects preferred.
