Job Summary:

Involves monitoring construction, operations, maintenance, and/or repair activities to ensure conformance with MSFC standards, including construction and performance specifications, code requirements, and contract construction drawings.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide inspection and surveillance of construction, operations, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure the work is in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications and NASA standards at MSFC.
• Review construction submittals for accuracy and monitor them via specialized construction software such as Procore.
• Review and evaluate the accuracy of the construction or maintenance contractor’s requests for progress payments.
• Provide daily inspection reports summarizing progress and adequacy of work observed, including verification of the project schedule; includes but not limited to indicating the activities worked on that day and the activities that are on or behind schedule.
• Regularly generate Inspectors Site Inspection Reports and update them as necessary for keeping them current.
• Maintain orderly working files for correspondence, minutes of meetings and conferences, payments, updated progress schedules, monthly progress reports, punch lists, field changes, and similar documents.
• Monitor requests for Information (RFI), and contract documents including amendments, notices to proceed, change orders, modifications, and other locally generated documents developed during the construction period, to ensure continuity of construction, maintenance, and/or repair efforts.
• Participate in construction pre-final and final inspections, assist in preparations of detailed punch-lists and check that all punch list items are corrected prior to recommending final payment to the construction contractor.
• Review and evaluate as-built drawings to ensure accuracy; note discrepancies found and return for correction.
• Assist in review of O&M Manuals received during the construction, maintenance, and/or repair efforts and provide comments as needed to address inaccurate or incomplete information.

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• 5+ years of applicable experience on construction projects
• Experience as a master or journeyman HVAC technician is a plus
• Army Corp of Engineering (USACE), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) or other federal project construction experience is preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
• Computer proficiency (MS Office-Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Knowledge of business office procedures.
• Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to read and understand construction contract drawings.
• Ability to inspect and confirm construction work conforms to design drawings and specifications.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and other involved parties.
• Must be well organized and detail oriented.

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) as a minimum; college degree in Construction Management is a plus
• 3+ years of applicable inspection experience on construction projects is preferred
• Experience as a master or journeyman HVAC technician is highly valued
• Experience as a master or journeyman electrician is a plus
• Computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Knowledge of business office procedures.
• Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to read and understand construction contract drawings, specifications, and O&M manuals.
• Ability to inspect and confirm construction work conforms to design drawings, specifications, and NASA MSFC standards.
