Position Summary
Types of Workforce Training Instructors:
Non-Credit training in Accounting; ADM;
Commercial Construction OSHA;
Continuing Education Courses;
Electrical Technology;
Engineering Graphics; I.T. Google;
Machine Tool;
Office Systems; and Welding.
The Instructor is responsible for the planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. They will provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. The Instructor will adhere to the general and adjunct faculty guidelines as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the Drake State Community and Technical College Personnel Handbook.
Salary:
Appropriate placement of Local Salary Schedule "L" at $33.11 per contact hour
Work Hours:
Classes are taught day, evening, and weekends on the Huntsville campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Plan, organize, and instruct non-credit courses
* Deliver each class to ensure an effective learning experience
* Maintain a high level of competence and expertise in the teaching field or subject area
* Incorporate current teaching techniques, subject area developments, and current technology (if applicable) into the learning experience
* Provide classroom instruction in accordance with approved course outlines
* Provide for effective evaluation of the learning experience of each student
* Demonstrate effective people skills, communication skills, and work ethic (i.e. preparation and punctuality)
* Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the mission and goals of the community college
* Perform additional essential job functions that are unique to the instructor position and/or teaching field
* Ensure learning outcomes and assessment and improvement of student learning
* Challenge and cultivate student achievement beyond the classroom
* Support a diverse population of learners
* Work in a participatory and collegial setting
* Support continuous improvement of curricula and services
* Plan each unit or lesson, as to content, method, and organization to make each class period meaningful
* Ensure that assigned classes are held as scheduled
* Accommodate differing student learning styles in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the College's established ADA program
* Become familiar with and comply with college policies and procedures
* Retain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts
* Perform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor, Division Chair, Director of Workforce Development, Assistant Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instruction, and/or President

Qualifications
* Associate's Degree with specialized coursework in field
* Three (3) years of full-time work experience as a practitioner in field
* Some areas may require a current license and certification in field
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from a variety of educational, cultural, and social backgrounds
* Must meet all employability requirements of the college
