ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Department of Art, Art History & Design (AAHD) at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) invites applications for a full-time lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in graphic design. The appointment begins on August 10, 2026. Lecturers teach four classes per semester and provide service to the Department, College, and University.
Requirements: MFA in Graphic Design or equivalent degree, in-depth knowledge of typography, print-based design (including packaging), brand identity systems, and professional print production processes, strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, and an understanding of current design practices and emerging technologies.
Preferred but not required:
College teaching experience, especially beyond graduate school, familiarity with Figma or Adobe XD, basic knowledge of front-end web languages (HTML and CSS) for effective design communication. Expertise or competence in the history of design, illustration, and a willingness to engage with emerging tools that integrate AI into design processes.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department is housed in a spacious, well-equipped facility, including two Mac labs for Graphic Design and Photography and two PC labs for animation. Additional equipment includes two large-scale printers, a digital fabrication lab housed in sculpture, a motion capture lab for animation, as well as three gallery spaces, and up-to-date equipment for the studio art areas. The program is well supported by both the College and University and fully accredited through NASAD.
The department is collegial and works collaboratively on program planning and department goals.

The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at The University of Alabama in Huntsville has nine departments, supporting sixteen bachelor's degree programs, three master's programs, one Ph.D. program, and six certificate programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.
