Middle School Art Teacher (Digital Arts) Part-time, 10-month August 2026 We’re looking for someone who:

Randolph School is seeking an innovative and creative part-time teacher to work within our Middle School Division (grades 5-8) and our Visual Arts department. This faculty member will work primarily with 7th and 8th grade students in elective courses that introduce the fundamental principles of design and digital art creation. The ideal candidate will be a skilled designer and enthusiastic educator capable of guiding students through the technical and artistic aspects of digital media.
This role requires a balance of artistic expertise, technical troubleshooting abilities, and a passion for working with adolescents as they prepare for Upper School arts possibilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Establish an effective, safe, well-organized, and inclusive environment where all students are both inspired and appropriately challenged
- Design and implement a comprehensive digital art curriculum that covers essential skills, including Typography, Color Theory, Digital Illustration and Page Layout, utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite and/or the Affinity Suite
- Introduce students to basic concepts of motion graphics and video editing where appropriate
- Collaborate with visual arts faculty in lower and upper school to scaffold learning objectives and update scope and sequence
- Work with grade-level teams to address the needs of the whole child
- Encourage a culture of curiosity and calculated risk-taking, embracing Design Thinking methodologies and encouraging problem-solving through empathy, ideation, and prototyping
- Provides hands‑on assistance during class, helping students troubleshoot hardware (PC) and software issues as they arise
- Assist in curating and displaying student work for school art shows and digital platforms
- Understand the developmental needs of 7th and 8th grade students
- Use our Learning Management System to communicate and organize assignments
- Demonstrate effective written and oral communication (parent conferences, written correspondence including narrative reports)
- Effectively monitor and manage student learning using a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress
- Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning through active participation in professional growth activities
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Arts, or a related field is required
- Master’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of teaching or professional experience required; independent college preparatory school experience preferred
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and/or Affinity Suite required
- General computer proficiency with the ability to diagnose and fix common PC issues in a classroom setting required
- Demonstrated strength in typography, color theory, and digital illustration is required, and familiarity with motion graphics and video editing is a plus
Interest and ability to contribute to our clubs, athletics, and extracurricular programs is an additional consideration.
