Job Description:
Missile Solutions segment is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Huntsville, AL Headquarters location. The Lead Project Engineering role will act as an IPT lead on the D5 program. This role involves leading, performing, and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management and technical leadership. This role may have control account management (CAM) responsibility for the assigned IPT.
Under minimal direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks, overseeing special studies, and coordinating testing activities. The ideal candidate will coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting, while supporting the program technical lead. Additionally, this candidate will lead Transition to Production activities within the IPT. This role requires the candidate to be a technical advisor for various production programs covering varied topics relating to Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) manufacturing issues.
The ideal candidate would have expertise in composite manufacturing, hyper-elastic/phenolic materials, propellant chemistry and propellant manufacturing.
Essential Functions:
* Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques.
* Read, interpret, and write specifications and technical documents.
* Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals.
* Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments.
* Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
* Understand and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
* Review and approve engineering drawings.
* Travel up to 25%.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior Project Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior Project Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior Project Engineering experience. Preferred Additional
Skills:
* Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
* 4 years of IPT Lead experience.
* 4 years' working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
* Four or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired.
* Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) is desired.
* Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels.
* Ability to establish and maintain priorities in a dynamic environment.
* Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure, in a collaborative, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment.
