Role – Electrical Design Engineer (Switchgear) Salary – $40-$52 per hour. Type – Contract, 12 month. Openings – 1
My client is a U.S.
-based manufacturer of custom-built industrial equipment, supporting customers across high-volume manufacturing and process-driven environments. They are looking to add an experienced Electrical Engineer to take ownership of electrical and controls design across new equipment builds and system upgrades.
This role sits within a close-knit engineering team and offers hands‑on involvement from concept through commissioning, with a strong focus on practical, production‑ready electrical designs.
The Electrical Design Engineer will have the following attributes:- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EIT or PE preferred, not required).
- 2+ years of professional experience in electrical system design.
- Strong background in power distribution and/or UL 508A-related systems.
- Exposure to power electronics and control systems.
- Proficiency with CAD and BIM tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or EPLAN.
- Solid working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and IEC standards.
- Clear communicator with the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.
- Detail‑oriented and comfortable owning design responsibility within project teams.
- Designing AC and DC electrical schematics for low- and medium-power systems.
- Developing designs for power distribution, grounding, lighting, and low‑voltage control systems.
- Producing drawings, specifications, load calculations, and BOMs to support project execution.
- Ensuring designs meet applicable safety codes, standards, and internal quality requirements.
- Collaborating with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives through design standardization and process enhancement.
