Job Overview
Dynetics, a Leidos Company, is seeking a talented Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to join a diverse team creating unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost‑effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The role focuses on developing guidance, navigation, and control for air, land, and sea‑launched flight systems, including projects such as the AGM‑190/A Small Cruise Missile, US SOCOM’s GBU 69/B Small Glide Munition, multiple hypersonic missile programs, DARPA’s Gremlins program, and other rapid‑development efforts.
PrimaryResponsibilities
Engineers in this position are responsible for the development and analysis of guidance, navigation and autopilot algorithms and implementation of these items in 6‑DOF simulations, Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop (HWIL) facilities, and operational flight software. The candidate should also conduct trade studies for design decisions, develop techniques to assess, validate and verify performance, and support flight tests with pre‑flight predictions and post‑flight analyses.
Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering or physics plus 2 or more years of work or graduate level research experience with feedback control system design, trajectory optimization, guidance, navigation, and/or optimal estimation and knowledge of basic aerodynamic principles. Strong math skills are required in linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformation. Must be experienced in MATLAB, Simulink, and C/C++ programming. Candidates must possess solid technical communication skills and be able to work both collaboratively and independently.
Residents of the North Alabama area, or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL office, are required.
Familiarity with the DoD digital engineering paradigm; experience with terrestrial navigation, SAASM, M‑Code, and GPS‑denied operations; MS degree or higher strongly desired.
