Position Responsibilities:- Designs electronic hardware focused on space launch vehicle applications
- Develops avionics assembly designs primarily focused within the following fields:
- Electrical Power Systems (EPS) – Battery design and testing; charge / discharge controls
- Designs and supports execution of Li-ion battery performance and safety tests
- Compares actual results/execution to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned.
- Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans
- Develops, documents and maintains electronic and electrical system requirements according to customer desires and contract requirements
- Leads and coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
- Develops statements-of-work and technical performance specifications
- Develops test plans/procedures and supports the execution test events
- Leads Root Cause/Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and resolutions
- Executes various methods of testing and analysis to support design and production and to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
- Works with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products
- Leads formal trade studies and literature research to support future product designs
- Develops solutions to technical problems
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
- Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.
- Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
- Completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective.
- Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Associate Level 2:
Typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. - Mid
- Level 3:
Typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. - Ability to travel up to 15%
- Associate Level: 1+ years of experience with Li-ion battery design and test
- Mid-Level: 3+ years of experience with Li-ion battery design and test
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related science or technology field degree
- Proficient in power distribution controller design
- Experience in battery electrical and mechanical systems for space vehicles
- Experience with standard JSC-20793 Revision D (Crewed Space Vehicle Battery Safety Requirements)
- Experience in one or more of these focused areas: analog/digital circuits, firmware/Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), serial and parallel communication protocols, radio frequency
- Good communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Experience with Creo Parametric/Windchill
- Ability to work in a team environment
