About the Role

Join our team supporting NASA’s Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) for the International Space Station (ISS), commercial space partnerships, and future exploration missions including Artemis and Mars campaigns. This mid‑career role involves leadership in controls engineering, software development, and LabVIEW integration for mission‑critical systems. You will mentor team members, balance workloads, and act independently on technical matters while contributing to projects that have a significant impact on NASA programs.

Key

Tasks
  • Design, develop, and maintain LabVIEW-based control and data acquisition systems for ECLSS test stands and hardware.
  • Integrate software with hardware components including sensors, actuators, and DAQ devices.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues and provide innovative solutions.
  • Document software development processes including architecture, user manuals, and test procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists to define requirements and improve system functionality.
  • Assist in problem resolution and task completion through mentoring and guidance.
  • Distribute and balance team workload; monitor work to ensure requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Plan and develop engineering projects addressing unique or controversial problems with significant organizational impact.
  • Maintain liaison with internal and external stakeholders, acting independently on technical matters.
Minimum Education & Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering is required. A degree from an ABET-accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum of 14 years of experience, a master’s with at least 18 years of experience, or a BS with at least 20 years of experience.

Required Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with LabVIEW programming and integration with hardware systems.
  • Strong understanding of wiring, electronics, and control systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Technical integration experience working with a variety of engineering disciplines and project/program organizations.
  • Experience in product management, product strategy, and software development.
  • Experience communicating to upper management and decision makers.
  • Outstanding negotiation skills demonstrated through complex technical problem solving.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation, and presentation skills.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Desired Qualifications
  • LabVIEW Certification (CLAD, CLD, or CLA).
  • Familiarity with NPR 7150.2D and NASA software engineering processes.
  • Experience with aerospace component testing and test stands.
  • Knowledge of thermal/fluid systems and instrumentation.
Essential Functions
  • Office environment requiring clear, concise, accurate and timely communication (verbal and written).
  • Required travel within the domestic USA (up to 5%).
  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods and use general office equipment.
  • Requires sitting for extended periods during meetings and at a desk for reports and engineering tasks.
  • Must use stairs or elevators as needed for navigation between floors at NASA facilities.
Other Essentials

Proof of U.S. citizenship is required. Normal workday 7:30‑4:30, Monday thru Friday, with minimal overtime (up to 10%) to meet schedule milestones.

Primary Location

Office environment supporting NASA’s ECLSS program and related projects.
