Systems Effectiveness Engineer / Scientist

People Tec is currently seeking a qualified professional to support our Huntsville, AL location.

We are looking for scientists and engineers who want to work with cutting‑edge technologies such as kinetic energy, materials science, computational modeling, and air and missile defense. The selected candidate will join a dynamic Huntsville team and work on projects that assess the effectiveness of U.S. weapons systems in a variety of scenarios. Projects emphasize modeling and simulation product design, development, implementation, and validation.

Our team blends engineering skills with software design to develop innovative solutions for the nation’s most pressing challenges.

• Research, develop, and model heating and combustion effects in enclosed environments.
• Develop analytical and statistical approaches to physical geometry modeling.
• Create and modify Computer Aided Design (CAD) 3‑D geometry and mesh models.
• Apply computational modeling methodologies and tools.
• Support the development of fast‑running, semi‑empirical system effectiveness and lethality models.
• Serve as a well‑rounded scientist or engineer with strong mechanical and mathematical modeling skills, a desire to learn new tools, and a drive to develop solutions for customers.
• Work in an agile development environment that demands initiative, attention to detail, independent thought, and the ability to work in a multi‑disciplined team.

• Mechanical design (CAD) experience.
• Programming experience in C++ and/or Python, including use of standard development tools.
• Experience or domain knowledge of finite element analysis methods and software.
• Experience or domain knowledge of energetic (explosive / combustible) materials and compounds.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project).
• Experience developing or integrating engineering tools in an Agile environment.
• Sound oral and written communication skills to present technical approaches and findings to team members and government customers.
• Excellent technical writing skills.
• Ability and desire to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative team environment.
• Travel:
  Less than 5 %.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• An active DoD Secret clearance is required at hire and must be maintained.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline plus five years or more of professional experience.
• A master’s degree will substitute for two years of demonstrated experience.

• Experience with or domain knowledge of the Sandia National Laboratories CTH code (or a similar tool).
