Senior Engineer – Principal ECAD Designer
LocationHuntsville, Alabama, United States (Onsite)
Job OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Engineer with strong PCB layout skills to join the Digital, RF and Power Products Team as a Principal ECAD Designer. The role involves designing printed circuit board (PCB) layouts for various applications, including flex and rigid‑flex assemblies, from conception through manufacturing, ensuring designs meet all technical, manufacturability, and producibility requirements.
Responsibilities- Design PCBs from concept to manufacturing starting on day one.
- Create library parts, perform schematic capture, component placement, routing, and generate Gerber/ODB++ files.
- Document designs using the Mentor Graphics toolset.
- Work with flex and rigid‑flex assembly designs.
- Interface daily with electrical, mechanical, and producibility engineering to capture and meet overall design requirements.
- Provide technical solutions to complex problems; understand and apply PCB design theories and manufacturing practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
- Eight (8) years of relevant PCB design experience.
- Proficiency in Xpedition environment or equivalent.
- Experience with Mentor Graphics or equivalent tools designing complex analog, digital, RF, or mixed‑technology PCBs.
- Experience with placement, routing, auto‑router, constraint manager, xDM/library client, or equivalent library solutions.
- Active Secret DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Three or more of the following: placement, routing, auto‑router, constraint manager, xDM or equivalent.
- Experience with multi‑layer designs including HDI technology and/or high‑speed routing such as DDR circuitry.
- Experience with , Board Station (Librarian, Layout, Fablink) and Blue Print for complex PCB drawings.
- Mechanical design skills to interpret complex mechanical drawings related to PCBs.
- Knowledge of Mentor's Library Management System.
