Impact of the Role

General Profile

* Provides leadership to managers and may also have professional staff.

Essential Functions

* Oversees a team of mechanical engineers that design, analyze, and maintain mechanical components and systems to meet specified requirements and standards.

* Utilizes CAD software and other design and modeling tools to plan, develop, and improve mechanical parts or components and communicate conceptual designs and specifications to stakeholders.

* Oversees prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems and reviews data and analysis to develop improvements.

* Implements departmental policies and procedures to delegate workflow and ensure projects are completed on time and within required specifications and quality standards.

* Leads the research and development of innovative or new technologies to improve existing products or processes.

* Ensures projects follow organizational best practices for design, prototyping, and testing.

* Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.

Required Qualifications

* Required education and experience:

Associate's Degree and 8-10 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience

* Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

* Preferred education and experience:

Bachelor's Degree

* Discipline/Major:
Mechanical Engineering or Engineering degree preferred
