Join us on this extraordinary adventure! This position is full-time (100%) of the ESSCA Group support to the NASA EM22 Materials Test, Chemistry & Contamination Control Branch. Responsibilities:
Works integrally with engineers/scientists and exercises practical knowledge of a wide range of technical, engineering, and scientific methods in the areas of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, drafting, or assembly disciplines. This individual applies standardized rules or operations that require training and experience in mechanical material testing. Performs specific projects involving specialized or complicated procedures and applies a wide variety of test and inspection techniques to various engineering and scientific aspects to make on-site determinations.
Resolves operational problems to ensure appropriate interaction between components and recommends improved procedures, and modifies parts, instruments, and equipment. Utilizes a variety of complex instruments, gauges, and methods to perform work on critical units or multiple subunits of a system or device. Communicates with personnel in problem resolution, coordinates the work, reviews, analyses and the integration of the technical work of others.
Duties will include:
* Performing calibrations of laboratory equipment in accordance with ISO 17025.
* Operating electromechanical and servo-hydraulic test machines to perform mechanical materials tests according to ASTM and NASA standards.
* Communicating with customers and providing status updates on testing progress. Here's What You'll Need:
Qualifications:
Candidates for the Materials Test Engineering Technician should have a minimum of a High School diploma or GED or equivalent; and at least 5 years of experience, or an Associate's Degree. Required
Skills and Experience:
* Experience operating in a mechanical materials test lab.
* Experience with MTS and Instron material test system operation and test method development.
* Must be well-versed with ASTM standards.
