Overview

This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit and focuses on the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems.
As a leader of a dedicated engineering team, you’ll ensure the successful delivery of all engine avionics software products, manage project execution, drive cost‑effective delivery, oversee risk mitigation, and communicate issues to leadership. You will also manage people—hiring, coaching, and supporting a positive, productive team culture that aligns with HR policies.
Responsibilities- Manage project scope, maintain scrappy cost‑effective execution, establish software architecture and product roadmaps, identify and manage technical and programmatic risks, coordinate with Enterprise functions, track team execution and unit product cost, create framework for project data, partner with other business units on software efficiency.
- Develop and oversee the technical plan, own lifecycle of avionics software products, manage interdisciplinary engineering tasks, ensure quality of engineering outputs, support requirement decomposition, and align interfaces between customers and project teams.
- Oversee the employee lifecycle, talent acquisition, development, performance management, and foster continuous growth while ensuring compliance with HR processes and policies.
- Proven track record of leading and managing teams to deliver complex safety‑critical embedded software products.
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering or technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience with significant experience in avionics and/or embedded software product development and maintenance.
- 3+ years of project management and/or management experience.
- Basic knowledge across relevant engineering disciplines, including requirements negotiation, design, development, analysis, verification, and vehicle integration.
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Experience with resource/budget management and reporting.
- Experience with Agile, IMP-level scheduling, risk management, configuration management, and requirements management processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with industry-leading software development tools.
- Hands‑on experience with the development lifecycle of embedded software.
- Experience in planning and executing test programs for software systems.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain software architecture and product/component roadmaps.
