Systems Engineer
Job Description
The Systems Engineer II supports the design, development, integration, and verification of complex hardware and software systems. Working under direction, this role focuses on system-level analysis, performance modeling, and embedded systems development to ensure reliable and effective operation of advanced radar and related capabilities. The position involves close collaboration with other engineering and technical professionals to deliver high-quality, integrated solutions.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in the development and modification of systems and subsystems, including both hardware and software components.
+ Perform functional and empirical analysis to support the design, development, and implementation of hardware, systems, and subsystems for products.
+ Investigate and resolve operational problems in collaboration with other engineering and technical personnel.
+ Conduct requirements management activities, including requirements analysis, decomposition, and traceability throughout the system lifecycle.
+ Develop and use system performance models to predict and evaluate system behavior and performance under various conditions.
+ Write and maintain MATLAB code to support system performance modeling, analysis, and simulation.
+ Support system integration activities, ensuring that hardware and software components work together as intended.
+ Perform hardware and software integration and test, identifying and resolving integration issues.
+ Plan and execute system test and verification activities to confirm that systems meet specified requirements.
+ Contribute to embedded systems design and development, ensuring robust and reliable operation in the target environment.
+ Document engineering work products, including test plans, test procedures, analysis results, and problem reports.
+ Collaborate with a small, specialized team to support radar systems for destroyer platforms and related AEGIS work.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
+ 2-4 years of experience in systems engineering or a closely related discipline.
+ Hands-on experience with system integration, including integrating multiple hardware and software components.
+ Proficiency with MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and data analysis.
+ Experience in system performance modeling and analysis.
+ Practical coding experience to support modeling, analysis, or embedded development tasks.
+
Experience with system test and verification, including developing and executing test plans and procedures.
+ Embedded systems design and development.
+ Ability to perform requirements management, analysis, and decomposition.
+ Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams.
+ Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret clearance.

Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience supporting radar systems or similar complex defense-related systems.
+ Familiarity with hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.
+ Experience working within structured engineering processes and documentation standards.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in system-level analysis.
+ Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers, testers, and other stakeholders.
+ Ability to work independently under direction and manage multiple tasks within defined schedules.
Work Environment
This role is based in a small, cleared office environment, working closely with a tight-knit team supporting AEGIS-related radar systems for destroyer platforms. The team culture emphasizes collaboration, technical rigor, and shared problem-solving. The position offers a flexible schedule, with options such as 4/10 or 9/80 workweeks, supporting work-life balance while meeting project commitments. Work involves regular use of engineering tools such as MATLAB and other modeling, integration, and test equipment in a systems engineering setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Huntsville, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
