Role Overview
Lockheed Martin Space is hiring a System Engineer for the Terminal High‑Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program. The position focuses on translating mission objectives into clear system designs, supporting the WSE System Design and Architecture Manager, and working with both U.S. Government and Foreign Military Sales contracts.
Responsibilities- Report to the WSE System Design and Architecture Manager supporting system design for U.S. Government and FMS contracts.
- Support the Design and Architecture Threat Modelling team by modeling and analyzing threat missile behavior.
- Develop and maintain MATLAB and Python scripts used for threat analysis.
- Provide analysis of threat missile behavior to the Design and Architecture team.
- Participate in system‑level design reviews and performance interchange meetings for future capabilities.
- Interact effectively with peers, leadership, customers, and subcontractors.
- Support technical discussions and communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Take initiative to support WSE organization goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of systems engineering concepts and processes.
- Active or current Secret Security Clearance.
- Understanding of overall systems engineering processes.
- Experience with Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) design and analysis.
- Medium or high fidelity simulation experience.
- System performance assessment tactics.
- Proficiency in scripting with Python, MATLAB, Unix, Linux, Shell, Bash, C++ and related tools.
- Ability to define and detail solutions to complex problems and convey them to senior management and customers.
- Basic understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors.
- Knowledge of AGILE processes.
This position requires a current Secret Security Clearance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
