Position OverviewBoeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks an FPGA Design Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL to develop, debug, and integrate processor subsystem features and interfaces in FPGA hardware for Advanced Processors. You will be working on cutting‑edge technologies, supporting various domain areas such as flight command and control, air traffic control, and homeland defense.
Position Responsibilities- Develop FPGA requirements, FPGA code of logic design. Generate self‑checking test bench, unit test, synthesis, timing analysis, Built‑In‑Test (BIT) and support debug and system integration activities.
- Develop, debug, and integrate processor subsystem features and interfaces in FPGA hardware for advanced processors.
- Develop high‑speed serial interferences inside an FPGA (SERDES).
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including other engineering disciplines.
- Stay current on industry best practices and technological advancements in FPGA design and Digital Signal Processing.
- 1+ years of related experience for Level 2, 3+ years for Level 3, 5+ years for Level 4.
- Experience using FPGA design tools such as Modelsim, Xilinx Vivado or ISE, Altera Quartus, Microsemi, or similar.
- Experience with HDL code development.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
- MSEE, MSCE experience.
- Experience with Verilog, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and other relevant tools.
- Familiarity with Synopsys Synplify, Synopsys VCS, NCSim, and Chip Scope tool sets.
- Experience with Xilinx/AMD and Micro Semi/Microchip part families internal FPGA fabric and IP.
- FPGA design experience using the tools mentioned above.
- Previous experience with aerospace design techniques.
- Experience managing configuration control (Git Lab preferred).
- Experience with Vivado and Vitis FPGA toolsets.
- Experience with UVM.
- Experience working with Versal FPGAs.
- Experience with troubleshooting and debugging board‑level testing and FPGA validation.
- Experience in the FPGA life cycle: architecture, design, simulation, verification, validation, integration & test.
Level 2:
Advanced technical education in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, or related fields (e.g., Bachelor) with 2+ years’ related work experience or equivalent. ABET accreditation preferred.
Level 3:
Advanced technical education in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, or related fields (e.g., Bachelor) with 5+ years’ related work experience or equivalent. ABET accreditation preferred.
Level 4:
Advanced technical education in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, or related fields (e.g., Bachelor) with 9+ years’ related work experience or equivalent. ABET accreditation preferred.

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive base pay with variable compensation. Summary pay ranges:
Level 2: $91,800–$124,200;
Level 3: $112,200–$151,800;
Level 4: $136,850–$185,150. Benefits include health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, paid and unpaid time off.
Export Control:
Must meet U.S. export control compliance. U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) required.
Security Clearance:
Requires obtaining a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required); interim/final U.S. Secret Clearance post‑start required.
Visa Sponsorship:
Employer will not sponsor employment visa status.
