Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design and develop high-performance mechanical systems and components that support mission-critical applications. In this role, you will create innovative, reliable, and integrated hardware solutions that meet demanding technical requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and play a key role in ensuring that mechanical designs support end-user performance and mission success.

Responsibilities

+ Design and develop high-performance mechanical systems and components for mission-critical applications.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.

+ Conduct feasibility studies and analyze technical requirements to provide innovative mechanical solutions that meet project objectives.

+ Perform detailed mechanical design and analysis using industry-standard tools such as CAD and FEA, ensuring adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations.

+ Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.

+ Suggest and implement design changes related to material layout, heat concerns, and EMI/EMC considerations to optimize performance and reliability.

+ Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities, and actively participate in design reviews.

+ Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the product development lifecycle.

+ Provide technical support to manufacturing, procurement, and field operations teams as needed to resolve mechanical design issues.

+ Utilize Teamcenter for product lifecycle management of electronic drawings and related artifacts, ensuring accurate configuration and revision control.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME).

+ 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and mechanical design.

+ Proficiency in Solid Works for 3D modeling and detailed mechanical design.

+

Experience with ECAD integration and collaboration for electro-mechanical systems.

+ Strong background in mechanical design, including material selection, layout, and thermal management for heat concerns.

+ Knowledge and practical experience with EMI/EMC considerations in mechanical design.

+ Experience using industry-standard tools such as CAD and FEA for design and analysis.

+ Hands-on experience with Teamcenter or similar product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.

+ Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering and project teams.

+ Strong documentation skills for creating and maintaining design artifacts in compliance with standards and regulations.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience suggesting and implementing design changes to improve performance, manufacturability, and reliability.

+ Familiarity with managing electronic drawings and related artifacts within a PLM environment such as Teamcenter.

+ Experience supporting prototype development, testing, validation, and design reviews.

+ Understanding of safety, quality, and regulatory standards relevant to mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.

+ Ability to provide technical support to manufacturing, procurement, and field operations.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical requirements.

+ Comfort working on mission-critical hardware solutions that require high reliability and performance.

Work Environment

This role is primarily onsite in Huntsville with a hybrid schedule that includes in-office work and the flexibility to work remotely two days per week, with the ability to choose which days are remote. Core working hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with flexibility outside of these hours to support project needs. You will report into the engineering leadership team and work closely with a growing mechanical engineering organization.
