The Defense Systems sector is hiring a Feature Architecture Lead, Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to support the Sentinel Program. This position advances the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for ICBM Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities

As the Feature Architecture Lead, you will manage the full System & Incremental Feature Architecture & Definition for the development and I&T teams. Your duties include:

  • Technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analysis of all system product levels—from concept to disposal—to ensure logical and systematic conversion of requirements into solutions that respect technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Functional, timeline, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition to translate customer needs into hardware and software specifications.
  • Presentation of technical solutions to senior leadership and representation of the organization on major initiatives.
  • Maintenance of external customer contacts, capture of technical needs, and translation into system‑feature concepts.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 14 years of experience; 12 years with a Master’s; or 10 years with a PhD.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance, with a background investigation within the past six years or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR).
  • Five years of Systems Engineering experience defining requirements, behavior models, interfaces, and verification plans for development and integration teams.
  • Five years of leading cross‑functional (software, systems, test) teams and disseminating information throughout a large organization.
  • Four years of leading projects through concept baselines, design reviews, and Review Board assessments.
  • Four years of experience using a Model‑Based Systems Engineering approach and MBSE tools such as Cameo and DOORS/DOORS‑Next.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience planning and managing large‑scale systems‑of‑systems programs using an agile, incremental‑feature methodology (including feature baselines, Agile Earned Value Management, and Jira coordination).
  • Hands‑on use of MBSE tools to tag and trace feature elements for incremental functionality release plans.
  • Prior work on defense‑related programs that use a feature‑concept development process.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Strategic Feature Plans and Certification modules.
  • Familiarity with SSCMAN
    91‑710 and Range Safety Compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with AFMAN 91‑119 standards.
  • Experience developing an Operational Concept (Ops Con) document.
  • Proven record delivering complex hardware‑software integration efforts with an active Sentinel SAP clearance.

Compensation

Primary salary range: $ – $. Base salary is determined by scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills and market conditions.

Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and, for higher‑level positions, long‑term incentives.

Standard work schedule: 9/80 (nine hours Monday‑Thursday, alternate Fridays off). Competitive relocation assistance may be offered.
