E1413:
Mechanical Engineer Sr
OVERVIEW: Space is entering a new era—and Lockheed Martin Space is helping lead it. Our engineers, scientists, and innovators are solving some of the world’s most complex technical challenges while building the spacecraft and technologies that protect nations, advance discovery, and expand what’s possible beyond Earth. At Lockheed Martin, your work has real impact. Every day our teams design and deliver satellites and spacecraft that provide early warning for severe weather and global threats, connect troops and critical missions across the globe, enable GPS navigation for billions of people, and support exploration and scientific discovery beyond our planet.
But going to space is just the beginning. What matters most is what happens once we get there. We’re developing the next generation of intelligent satellites—spacecraft that operate like “smartphones in orbit,” with software that can be updated in flight to adapt to changing mission needs. These innovations are redefining what’s possible in space. If you’re driven to solve hard problems, push technical boundaries, and contribute to missions that truly matter, we want you on our team.
Lockheed Martin Space—Your Mission is Ours.
- Lead structural dynamics analyses that shape the performance and survivability of missile and spacecraft flight hardware, from early concept through flight.
- Develop, refine, and own high-fidelity dynamic models using both in-house and industry-standard tools to simulate mechanical loads, deployment mechanisms, and complex separation events.
- Drive loads development at both the component and system level, translating real-world environments into actionable design criteria and validated engineering solutions.
- Plan and execute dynamic and static test campaigns—including separation events—then synthesize results into clear, data-driven insights that influence design decisions.
- Partner across a multidisciplinary engineering team to perform design trades, guide architecture decisions, and ensure structural integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
- Define and support dynamic test requirements, oversee test execution, and lead data reduction and correlation efforts to ensure alignment between analysis and test.
- Communicate complex technical findings with clarity and confidence, delivering high-quality documentation and presenting to internal teams, customers, and program leadership at key design reviews and technical forums.
This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of spacecraft structural dynamics, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to ensure mission success.
