What You Will Do
- Design, analyze (including thermal considerations), simulate, and test power conversion circuitry (including non-isolated topologies such as buck, boost, buck‑boost) and modules/discrete designs.
- Guide ECAD personnel through PCB layout of power circuitry and create technical drawings.
- Perform design work within the bounds of a given schedule.
- Present technical reviews to program leadership and technical staff.
- B.Sc. in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in design, analysis, simulation, or testing of linear power converters.
- Experience with non-isolated converter topologies: buck, boost, buck‑boost.
- Experience with analog circuit design and analysis (FET, BJT, Op‑amp).
- Strong understanding of linear controls and motor drive techniques.
- Ability to design to meet concerns of adjacent disciplines (thermal, structural, mechanical, reliability, and quality).
- Self‑starter capable of functioning in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and time‑management skills.
- Lab experience with power electronics and/or controls electronics.
- Use of simulation tools for electrical circuits and PCB layout (e.g., SIMPLIS, Saber, Mathcad, Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, Hyper Lynx).
- Design or test experience with isolated converter topologies (flyback, half‑bridge, full‑bridge, push‑pull) including stability.
- Experience in circuit card assembly‑level and system‑level power architecture trades, including power converter specification development.
- Familiarity with transformer and inductor design considerations.
- Design experience with EMI, voltages >400V, and/or power >10kW.
- Experience with military specifications, digital power control, and program management tools such as Earned Value.
- Experience with proposal development and liaison between program and functional management.
U.S. citizenship is required. A DoD Secret clearance is required and must be obtained and maintained after day
1.
